🕊️ Peace Procession Walk

🌿 Invitation

Gather your symbols of peace.
Walk together with care.
Let your shared movement make peace visible.

👣 Move

Walk Together for Peace

Gather in a shared starting place.

Bring a handmade peace flag, symbol, ribbon, sign, flower, or meaningful natural object.

Form a welcoming procession that gives everyone room to move comfortably.

Take one collective breath.

Begin walking slowly together.

Carry your peace symbols where they can be seen.

Pause along the way for silence, a peaceful word, a song, a poem, or the sound of the wind.

Notice how the group moves as one connected community.

Complete the procession by gathering in a circle or around a peaceful place.

🌿 Breathe

One Community Breath

Before the procession begins, pause together.

Place one hand near your heart or rest your hands comfortably.

Take three slow breaths.

Breathe in…
Welcome everyone into the gathering.

Breathe out…
Offer peace to the place around you.

Breathe in…
Feel the presence of the community.

Breathe out…
Prepare to move together with care.

Return to this shared breath whenever the procession pauses.

💭 Wonder

  • How does it feel to move together?

  • What helps everyone feel welcomed and included?

  • How does your peace symbol move with you?

  • What message does the procession carry?

  • How does the gathering change the feeling of the place?

  • Where might your community need more peace, welcome, or care?

  • How can people continue carrying peace after the walk ends?

🌎 Connect

A procession brings people, movement, place, and shared intention together.

Walking as a community helps us experience how individual steps can become part of a larger rhythm. Handmade symbols allow hopes for peace, belonging, justice, care, and connection to travel through public spaces.

As participants move beneath trees, alongside gardens, and through neighborhoods, the procession also expresses care for the places that hold community life.

Peace becomes something we can practice, carry, and share together.

🌈 Try Another Way

Try…

  • creating a short procession around a garden

  • circling a classroom, library, or community room

  • carrying peace flags created earlier in the week

  • decorating wheelchairs, walkers, or strollers with removable ribbons

  • moving in silence for part of the route

  • adding a repeated peaceful word or song

  • pausing at meaningful community places

  • inviting each participant to lead for a few steps

  • creating an indoor procession during difficult weather

  • ending with a shared circle, poem, or moment of gratitude

Every procession can reflect the people and place participating in it.

❤️ Care for Yourself and the Community

Choose a safe, accessible, and clearly planned route.

Arrange permission when using school, library, park, or community property.

Use sidewalks and designated paths where available.

Walk at a pace that keeps the group connected.

Assign trusted adults or volunteers to the beginning, middle, and end of the procession.

Keep flags and signs at a safe height with clear visibility.

Carry reusable decorations and retrieve every item after the walk.

Bring water, prepare for the weather, and pause whenever participants need rest.

Respect plants, wildlife, neighbors, and everyone sharing the route.

📸 Share

Photograph the peace symbols moving together.

Record a short video of flags and ribbons responding to the breeze.

Invite participants to share the meaning behind their symbols.

Create a community display with photographs, drawings, and peaceful words from the walk.

Share one moment when you felt connected to the group or place.
