🌎 Invitation
Gratitude begins with noticing what brings goodness, care, beauty, connection, or meaning into our lives.
Think about something you are grateful for this autumn. It might be a person, place, animal, plant, experience, memory, act of kindness, or something the living world has offered you.
Pause with that gratitude for a moment. Then find a way to share it. You might speak your thanks, write a note, light a lantern, make a small offering, or simply tell someone what you appreciate and why.
Like a small light in the growing darkness of autumn, gratitude can be carried from one person to another.
🤝 Share
You might:
Tell someone why you are grateful for them.
Share something in nature that brought you joy.
Write a small gratitude note or card.
Light a lantern and name something you appreciate.
Thank someone for an act of kindness or care.
Share a favorite autumn memory.
Invite others to name something they are grateful for.
🎁 Offer
Offer a word, gesture, light, note, story, or small act of care that lets someone know they are appreciated.
Gratitude does not need to be elaborate. A sincere thank-you can be a meaningful gift.
🔍 Notice
Notice what happens when you pause to recognize something you appreciate.
What do you see, hear, remember, or feel? Notice whether sharing your gratitude changes the moment for you or for the person receiving it.
💭 Wonder
What are you grateful for today?
Why does it matter to you?
Who or what helped make this experience possible?
How does it feel to express your appreciation?
What happens when gratitude is shared?
🌎 Connect
Autumn reminds us that life is built through relationships.
Trees depend upon sunlight, water, soil, fungi, insects, birds, and countless other relationships. We, too, depend upon people, places, communities, and the living systems around us.
Gratitude helps us recognize these connections. When we notice what supports our lives, appreciation can grow into care—and care can become a way of giving something back.
🌈 Try Another Way
Create a gratitude light.
Light a lantern, candle, or small safe light at dusk. With each person who joins you, name one person, place, living being, experience, or part of the natural world you are grateful for.
No lantern is needed to participate. You can also take a gratitude walk and let each thing you notice become a reminder of something you appreciate.
❤️ Gratitude
Thank the people, places, plants, animals, experiences, and small moments that brought care, beauty, learning, comfort, or belonging into your autumn.
Then notice whether there is one small way you would like to return that care.
📸 Document
Photograph your gratitude light, write a thank-you note, draw something you appreciate, record a few words in your journal, or create a collection of gratitude leaves, cards, or memories.
You might return to what you documented later and notice what you still carry with you.
